The 1870 Sour, also known as the New York Sour ,updates the Whiskey Sour recipe (whiskey, lemon, sugar, egg white) with a float of dry red wine. When it comes to the sour substitution, lime is a more subtle option if you find lemon too overpowering, alternatively you can opt for a sweeter pick like orange or a more savoury choice like grapefruit.
