Glenfiddich Experimental Series - Project XX Single Malt Whisky, 70 cl
Regular price £51.49 £49.49
With its deep golden hue, Project XX embodies the warm, fruity character of a classic Glenfiddich with hints of apple blossom, summer fruits and ripe pear. But its multiple personalities are revealed with hints of sweet candyfloss, cinnamon spice, almonds and rich port tannins with the odd whisper of liquorice. Deep and mellow, the finish is long lasting with a lingering sweet oakiness. Our second experiment of the series took place privately at our Conval warehouse. Shrouded in secrecy, Malt Master Brian Kinsman invited 20 whisky experts from around the world to select any expression of their choosing from thousands of stacked casks. The final 20 chosen malts, matured in everything from port pipes to virgin bourbon barrels, have created an unusual, untraditional and unexpected whisky, one that has exceeded even our expectations. It takes some determination to build a distillery by hand, but that is precisely what William Grant and his 9 (yes, 9) children did back in 1886. After twelve months of what must have been hard labour the distillery was ready and named Glenfiddich, Gaelic for Valley of the Deer, and started production on Christmas Day 1887 Glenfiddich is one of the few single malt distilleries to remain entirely family owned and is now one of the World's Most Awarded Single Malt* Scotch Whisky Distilleries. Something tells me that Mr Grant would be very proud!

Rob Roy Cocktail Recipe
If there was ever a cocktail to make you feel the glitz and glamour of the history and chic society of New York, it's ordering a Rob Roy Cocktail. This 19th century cocktail is believed to have been created at New York City’s Waldorf Hotel (if you want to visit today, you can head to the Waldorf Astoria). But who is Rob Roy? The cocktail is named not after the Scottish folk hero and outlaw Robert Roy MacGregor, but after the Broadway show that was showing at the time. The Rob Roy is a riff on a Manhattan, with their only difference being the base liquor. A Rob Roy is made using blended Scotch Whisky while a Manhattan is made with Rye Whisky. As such, the cocktail is malty and smooth, with a bit of spice on the finishing end.
