Sore head from the night before? We have the recipe for you. The Screwdriver is a combination of just two ingredients: vodka and orange juice. Somethings are best when kept simple! Served in a highball glass filled with ice, the Screwdriver cocktail is a refreshing drink perfect on a hot summer’s day or with for a boozy brunch.

But, WHY is it named the vodka Screwdriver? The recipe has been around since the late 1940s. According to culinary lore, it was named for the American engineers who spiked cans of orange juice with vodka, and then used actual screwdrivers to mix the beverage. This however is pretty hard to prove. Since then, many contemporary versions have been created by adding other flavours and liquors to the basic mixture. As for the best vodka for a screwdriver cocktail, it's pretty much down to personal preference. On The Bottle Club, you'll a variety of vodkas to suit any budget.
