Nightcap Cocktail Recipe

Despite its name (a nightcap is generally a soothing cocktail, the last drink of the night after a big dinner or in front of a warm fire), this Nightcap is more an energy booster than a soporific.

  • 2 ounces rum
  • 2 ounces cold brew-coffee
  • 1/2 ounce maple syrup
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • Tonic water, to top
  • Garnish: orange peel


  1. Add the rum, cold-brew, maple syrup, orange zest and bitters to a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.
  2. Strain into a highball glass over large ice cubes.
  3. Top with the tonic and stir gently.
  4. Garnish with an orange peel.
