Moscow Mule Recipe
Despite what the name suggests, this cocktail has nothing to do with Moscow or mules, but after a few sips of this vodka, ginger beer, and lime concoction, no one will mind! In fact, it was actually invented in 1940s New York, and is sometimes pinned as the drink that ‘started it all’ in regards to the United States affiliation with vodka. Since then, the iconic copper-mugged cocktail has been much loved in many countries around the world.
This cocktail has a clever use of vodka: covering up its harsh bite with spice and citrus. As such, the kind of vodka you use doesn't matter all that much, so don’t worry about using Russian vodka as the name suggests. Instead, put more thought into choosing a good, strong, not overly sweet ginger beer (not ginger ale). Make sure you use fresh lime juice, and yes, using a copper mug is preferred aesthetically, but a regular glass will do just fine.

- 1 ½ ounces vodka
- ½ ounce lime juice
- ice cubes
- ½ cup ginger beer
- 1 lime wedge for garnish
- Pour vodka and lime juice into a mug; add ice cubes and ginger beer. Stir to combine.
- Drop a lime wedge into the cup for garnish and serve
