There's always room for a dessert cocktail, right? This is an indulgent classic that is one of our favourites here at The Bottle Club.

Like most cocktails, the origins are a bit hazy. There are a number of conflicting stories about who invented the drink, and who exactly Alexander was, but the one thing we do know is that before there was a Brandy Alexander, there was just the Alexander, which was made with Gin only.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces cognac
  • 1 ounce dark creme de cacao
  • 1 ounce cream
  • Garnish: grated nutmeg

Method

    1. Add cognac, dark creme de cacao and cream into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.
    2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass or a coupe glass.
    3. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
